Monday Musings

Happy Monday! I hope you’re starting this week off well caffeinated (or decaffeinated for those like myself with caffeine sensitivities), basically I hope you’re reading this with your choice beverage in hand and ready to kill it this week. Can you believe it’s already the second week of May? I keep getting all these Facebook “memories” from two years ago about graduating college. I’m seriously in awe about how fast time goes because I swear I was just in college yesterday. This time, two years ago, I was crowning myself “Prom Queen” at a fake prom, presenting not one but TWO theses, playing campus tour and going to sleep no earlier than 2 am every night. (I’ll add some pictures below for the full nostalgic effect) Now, I’m working a full time “adult” job, going to bed no later than 10 pm, having SEVERE puppy fever and I truly couldn’t be happier with my life at the moment. But enough of my rambling, I just wanted to make a point that time FLIES when you’re out in the real world and just how much can change in two years, even just one year!

I thought I’d start a new blog schedule where I utilize Monday’s to just share with you all some of the things I’m currently loving, so welcome to the very first Monday Musing’s!

CURRENTLY:

Reading– I’m about halfway through Famous in Love by Rebecca Serle at the moment and kind of just taking my time getting through it. Unlike the show, the book is set in high school, which is something I’m usually okay with, but for some reason I’m having some issues keeping my attention directed on the book. I am also in the middle of A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas. This is the second book in the ACOTAR series. The third book came out last week, and because I prefer paperback over hardcover, I ordered the UK edition from Book Depository, so I am trying to finish the second book before the third arrives. I recently finished The Circle by Dave Eggers, and honestly, I kind of hated it. I just felt like there was far too much of the filler, descriptive paragraphs and not much really happened. Throughout the novel, I kept myself reading because I kept waiting for something exciting to happen, as it is listed as a thriller. I can definitely see why some people would enjoy the book, but it just was not for me, and ever since I finished it I have been in a bit of a reading slump. Hence why it’s taking me FOREVER to finish my current reads. Wish me luck and if you have any tips for getting out of a reading slump, comment them below!

Watching– Okay, I literally just saw Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 yesterday and OH MY GOSH it was absolutely incredible. Definitely just as good as the first one (including the soundtrack). I seriously cannot get enough of adorable Baby Groot. As far as television goes, I have been pretty engrossed in Pretty Little Liars. The final ten episodes of the entire series are now airing until the middle of June and I honestly cannot believe I’ve been watching this show for SEVEN years. While I’ve seen many fans get frustrated with the lack of answers and dumb storylines and just flat out stop watching, I figured that I’ve invested a pathetic amount of time into this show already, I might as well see it through to the end and get some darn answers. If any of you guys watch PLL, let me know your A.D. theories, I’ve heard some pretty convincing ones so far.

Listening- Honestly, a lot of the Top 40 stuff has been my jam lately. I’m a total sucker for a good beat.

Despacito (Remix)– Luis Fonso, Daddy Yankee ft. Justin Bieber

Stay Together– Noah Cyrus

Stay– Zedd ft. Alessia Cara

It Aint Me– Kygo ft. Selena Gomez

What Do I Know?– Ed Sheeran

Break Up Every Night– The Chainsmokers

Wearing– With our recent bout of nice, sunny weather, I have been taking full advantage and wearing alllllll of the sundresses. I’ve pretty much been wearing all of my dresses with either my leather jacket or my denim jacket, two clothing items that I believe are total staples in a girls closest. As far as makeup goes, when the weather gets warmer, I switch to using a tinted moisturizer instead of heavy foundation. I love this Tarte BB Cream/Tinted Moisturizer because it has build-able coverage, it does not break me out, great staying power and has SPF!

TTFN,

Samantha
