Life Update

Hello everybody!!! Yes, I’m aware that it’s been a little over two months since my last post. I could pull out all the excuses that I’ve just “been way too busy” and such, but while that IS true, the reason I haven’t posted is because I just wasn’t feeling the creative juices flowing. And in all honesty, I just wasn’t too thrilled with the content I WAS producing. I took a much needed break to re-evaluate this site and figure out what direction I really wanted to take it in. And, most importantly, I came to the realization that one of the reasons I wasn’t liking my own content was because I was too busy comparing myself to all the other “successful” bloggers out there. It wasn’t until I read a recent post by the wonderful Sarah Belle (check it out HERE), where she expressed her own thoughts on comparing herself to other people she deemed “better” and how it was bringing her down, that I realized EVERYONE can get stuck in the horrific mindset of constantly comparing yourself to others. Reading her post, I could have sworn that Sarah, who in my opinion is one of the best bloggers around, stole the thoughts right out of my own head. Comparisons are normal, but they aren’t healthy, and if I was going to get back into blogging I realized I just needed to stop giving a sh*t about how others viewed my site. So, I made a promise to myself that from here on out I would post and write about whatever I want to, whatever makes me the happiest. Because at the end of the day, if you’re happy with yourself and what you’re doing, that’s really the only thing that matters.

SO.

Since I’ve last posted, there’s been a lot going on in my life.

I:

  • Have attended two weddings. One was for my cousin, taking place on their beautiful 26 acre ranch (first two pictures), and the other for my boyfriends best friend, which was up on Mt. Ranier in Washington (last pic).
  • Organized and put on the rehearsal dinner for said cousins wedding and in the process confirming what I already suspected to be true, that I LOVE event planning. The below photo is of my good friend and hired bartender for the evening, Erik.
  • Reunited with my best girls from college! It was the first time since graduating (aka over two years ago) that ALL SIX of us were in the same place at the same time. None of us live in the same city, and while some are closer than others, everyone is so busy with life that it’s been hard to make plans. I think this Bend reunion trip kind of solidified the fact that we need to make a point of all meeting up somewhere for a girls weekend at least once a year.
  • Just got back from another weekend in central Oregon for Derek’s corporate retreat. It was 80’s themed and an absolute blast. As you can see below, we opted for the 80’s “grunge” look. And funny enough both of our outfits were probably totally acceptable to wear for a night out in Portland. Apparently the grunge look is in again? I’m not mad about it šŸ˜

Keep a lookout for more consistent posts here on Simply Samantha B- I have SO many great books to share with y’all, as well as some other fun content šŸ™‚ Until next time! (don’t worry it won’t be another long two month absence before hearing from me again)
